The Business: An Overview of Gordon Ira Photography
In addition to maintaining a studio and continuing to enter competitions, Gordon Ira is now marketing the thousands of photographs that he has accumulated over the years. The first serious collection was from Africa in 1998, the year that he retired. Since then the collections have continued, with the later emphasis being on swampscapes and scenes from the parks around Florida that have such magnificent scenery. This includes the northern Florida piney wood swamps, like the Ocala National Forest, down to the Everglades with the 10,000 Islands, birds and alligators. He has also found the Western scene with the Cowboys and the Alaska scene with all of the bears. Check out all of the major categories on the left of the web page.
While looking for the photographs, in addition to checking out the categories, click on "favorites" for some of the ones that we like more than others. For similar photographs use the search engine For something different, check out the "arty" prints. Some of these have come out very good and there will be more added in the future. There will continue to be "new" additions all the time, so keep checking back! If there are any corrections that need to be made or suggestions for the site, drop him an e-mail.
The earlier pictures were all taken on 35mm using Velvia and scanned with high resolution CanoScan FS-4000US. The current pictures are all taken digitally. He uses the new 12 megapixel Nikon D2X, when rapid capture is required, but mostly uses his main standby, the 14 megapixel Kodak Pro14Nx, which has continuously provided extremely high resolution. With 2450 gigs of hard drive, there is ample storage for all of the high resolution images. Printing is done with the Epson 7600 using all archival paper and inks. Mostly, Premium Luster paper is used, but variations from watercolor to canvas are available. With proper care these prints should last several lifetimes.
Each print is individually printed after being checked carefully. It is sized to suit your order, checked for sharpness and after printing, it is packaged, labeled and shipped. This may take longer than a quick turnaround, particularly if he's off on a shoot, but it will be sent out as soon as possible, and you will be notified by e-mail when to expect the order.
The Website
Search
The search engine may need a little explaining. Type in anything that interests you and hit enter and if identified with that keyword, it should come right up. Don't use punctuations. If the word is part of another word you may get a surprise. For example, if you type in "snow" for a snow scene, you will also get a snowy egret. If you type in "horse" to get a pretty horse, you will also get Horseshoe Falls. Not to worry, just something extra! Try to type in the singular of the word, and it will always come up, even if the keyword is plural.
The Photographs
There may be some variation in the picture that you see on your screen and the actual picture. The web engine entered some of the pictures in on the dark side and some have a little loss of color. If you really like the picture, and are worried about anything concerning its rendition, get in touch with us and we'll send you a higher resolution e-mail that you can check out before you order Even after you get the print, if you have any problem with it, return it and we'll refund your money minus shipping.

If you want to see what we have selected as our favorites, just type in "favorites" . . .
The pictures otherwise are organized into categories, or groups, like animals, flowers, etc. Type in any of these categories, or click on the side list and the whole group will come up. It you want to narrow it down, like bears, or horses in animals, type these in. There are a lot of pictures included in this site that are similar to other pictures, and some that may be better than others. This is done on purpose. Everyone has different tastes and likes different things and if available, we like to give you as many choices as possible.

These are sizes normally seen in standard frames. All Prices are calculated roughly on a square inch basis.

These are panoramic sizes with prices and sizes noted on the web page with the picture. All pictures cannot be printed in these sizes but most of the later high resolution images can be enlarged greatly. I just did a wall 9'x15' at 72dpi, and the detail was outstanding. If your size is not noted on the web page with the picture, give us a call.
These photos are sold for non-commercial use and the customers that we reach are those searching for the right fine art picture to go in a certain room or office. This could be a black and white to go on an accent wall or a series to decorate a wall in a doctor's office. For more than one picture, call for a discount. For commercial interests and/or decorators, call for special pricing.
Store
Calendars, cards, and Christmas Cards, are going to be available soon. If I get someone in to help, this will happen quite soon, otherwise it may be awhile.
Gift Certificates are available at any time. Give an archival fine print as a house warming gift and let them pick out the picture that they like and will match their new house. Can be upgraded, but non refunded.
Matting and Framing
Matting and framing is not routinely done. For local delivery, arrangements can be made.
Shipping
Shipping is $11 per order. Overseas shipping is priced on an individual basis. This is added on to the purchase price. Tax is added to Florida residents. Articles are printed and processed as soon as I get the order if I'm here and are shipped by second day Fed Ex. You will receive confirmation of your order by return e-mail.
Ordering
Payment is by Visa or MasterCard through a secure network when the order is shipped. Overseas orders are on an individual basis.
